The main goals of this roaster can be summed up in a few words: sustainability, transparency and ecological impact. In addition to roasting selected coffee, Onyx also organizes courses for the public, from informative value and introduction to the world of coffee to barista courses. For green coffee, which comes from East Africa and South and Central America, Onyx pays on average three times more than fair trade (an organized social movement and market approach that seeks to help producers in countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America and promote sustainability ). Stocking 12 to 20 bags of coffee at a time, priced from $15 to $100, Onyx is one of the few coffee roasters that is transparent about where the coffee comes from, how much it pays for it, and how the coffee is "scored" ( its quality). Their roastery is housed in a 101-year-old red brick building. Its founders were the duo Andrea and Jon Allen. Its goal was to bring better coffee and transparency to the region. In 2012, the first cafe and roaster Onyx Coffee Lab was born. A world-famous Arkansas roastery with embossed boxes and a typical skull in its logo. Through these new elements, we push ourselves towards improved quality and service, staying true to our mantra: “Never Settle for Good Enough.Onyx Coffee Lab is a famous roaster from the land of not only art punk music, but also selected coffee, led by this roaster. We hope this inspires people to ask more of where coffee comes from and how to brew it in different ways to experience the full tasting spectrum that this wonderful coffee, both fruit and bean, offers to us. We want to also share our knowledge of the craft, so we created art and iconography to highlight coffee origins, roasting specifications, brewing parameters and more. Second to the logo, color is the most essential and evocative piece in a visual identity, which is why we curated a palette of primary and secondary colors that align with our values. We used ONYX Coffee as the primary word mark, an upgraded Onyx skull icon, and the updated “ONYX” Script, as homage to our original logo design, which was displayed on all of our old bags and instantly recognized by our customers worldwide as a sign of our quality. Our 2020 brand redesign centered on modernizing and unifying our brand elements since Onyx was first established in 2012. We want to shine a light on the farmers and producers who grow this wonderful coffee, the roasters and cuppers who meticulously develop and curate the coffee, the cafes and baristas who artfully craft coffee beverages for all the people who wish to enjoy coffee. Our intention as a brand is to educate our customers' outlook on the coffee industry by taking them with us on every step of our journey. Onyx Coffee Lab is focused on bringing transparency, unprecedented hospitality, service, training, and the absolute best coffee offerings to our customers. ![]()
